Bhubaneswar: The maiden two-day visit of BJP national president Nitin Nabin to Odisha, beginning Sunday, has ignited fresh enthusiasm among party cadres, who are looking forward to his guidance as pivotal in drawing the future roadmap and strengthening the organisation ahead of next year’s panchayat and urban local body elections. As per schedule, Nabin will preside over a series of high-level meetings, training programmes and crucial discussions with senior leaders, including chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi, in Bhubaneswar on Monday. Party functionaries said his engagements are expected to reinforce the organisational base, energise workers at the grass-root level and chart a transformative course for the upcoming electoral challenges. The timing of Nabin’s visit is significant, coming days ahead of the BJP govt’s second anniversary in Odisha on June 12. His presence is expected to set the tone for the celebrations, highlighting achievements while laying out the roadmap for the future.BJP Odisha co-in-charge Lata Usendi said the visit would be a morale booster. “Nabin ji will review organisational affairs and strategise on strengthening coordination between the govt and the party. He is also expected to meet ministers and heads of frontal organisations,” Usendi said.About Nabin’s first visit to Odisha after assuming charge on Jan 20, rural development minister Rabi Narayan Naik said, “We eagerly await his insights. His organisational acumen will greatly benefit us.”Nabin is scheduled to chair a meeting of the party’s core committee at 8:30 am at the BJP office, followed by the launch of the Bhubaneswar district training programme in Jatni. In the afternoon, he will visit Puri to offer prayers at the Jagannath Temple before returning to Bhubaneswar for meetings with office-bearers, Morcha presidents and later, the council of ministers.Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy said, “Nabin ji played a crucial role in the party’s victories in West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry. His interactions here, in the backdrop of those wins, will be enlightening for our members.”He added that Nabin will deliver a pep talk to inspire party members to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Purvodaya vision, which envisions Odisha’s development as integral to the nation’s progress by 2047.To mark the occasion, the party has planned a grand welcome, including an e-bike rally — in line with the PM’s appeal to conserve fuel — to escort Nabin to the workers’ training camp in Jatni.
