Bhubaneswar: CM Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday announced a 2% increase in the dearness allowance (DA) for state govt employees. The DA for govt employees has increased from 58% to 60%. This will be applied retroactively from Jan 1, 2026. The increased DA will be paid with the salary for the current month of May. The govt also announced a 2% increase in the dearness relief, also called temporary increase (TI), for pensioners. They will also receive this increased TI with their May pension, a CMO statement said. This will benefit around 8.5 lakh govt employees and pensioners in the state. The Centre last month announced to increase DA of central govt employees by 2% with effect from Jan 1, 2026.
