Rourkela: Two students of Government High School, Kutra, in Sundargarh district — both children of poor farmers — have secured the first and second positions in the district in Class X HSC examination, the result of which was declared on Saturday.District topper Sujit Tigga, a native of Dheuladihi village under Gyanpalli panchayat in Kutra block, have secured 575 marks out of a total of 600, while Selmona Lugun, who hails from Kaelimunda Tikilipada village under Kaleimunda panchayat in the block, missed the mark by just two marks, having secured 573. Both were felicitated at the school, along with other students who have also performed well, on Sunday.Significantly, 25 students of Governmrnt High School, Kutra, have got A-1 grade out of 56 such students across the Sundargarh district.Tigga, whose father is a farmer and mother a homemaker, studied at the Government High School, Kutra, from classes VIII to X, staying in school hostel. He said apart from classroom studies, he studied daily from 4am to 7am and from 6pm to 9pm. “Whenever I had any doubt, I asked the teachers. Hard work is key to my success, but I also share the credit with my teachers and headmaster as well as my parents who always motivated me.” said Tigga, who wants to pursue arts and become an IAS officer.Lugun also studied in the government high school from classes VIII to X by staying in the hostel. “I am very happy with my result. After from classroom studies, I studied for eight hours daily. The credit for my success goes to the teachers, headmaster and my parents,” said Lugun, who wants to study science and become a doctor.
