Burglars break into locked house, decamp with gold & cash

Rourkela: Burglars broke into a locked house on Sunday evening under Kutra police limit in Sundargarh district and decamped with gold ornaments and cash worth about 25 lakh. A scientific team and dog squad went to the house on Monday and examined and tried to get clues about the burglars.According to sources, the house belonged to local businessman Abakash Das of Chunipada. On Sunday, Das along with his family went to attend a marriage ceremony. Abakash’s younger brother Ramesh had gone to Rajgangpur.Taking advantage of the empty house, the burglars allegedly entered the premises by jumping over the rear boundary wall in between 5 pm to 8 pm on Sunday and broke the main lock on the door and entered the house. They then broke open almirahs in three rooms and decamped with around Rs 7 to 8 lakh in cash along with nearly 120 gram of gold ornaments.The theft came to light around 8 pm when Ramesh returned home and found the house ransacked. He immediately informed Kutra police. “We have registered a case and our investigation is underway, to identify the burglars and to nab them,” said IIC, Kutra police station, Lokesh Sahu.
