PGCIL manager held for financial bungling

Keonjhar: Former manager of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, Naranpur sub-station, Banothu Ravi Kumar (44) was arrested by Keonjhar police on Thursday for financial irregularities and fraudulent activities committed during his tenure from April 2021 to Jan 2025, amounting to around Rs 18.66 lakh. A case was registered at the Town police station on April 15, 2026.Police sources said the accused was involved in systematic financial fraud by creating forged contracts, fake purchase orders, and fabricated bills. He allegedly bypassed SOPs, misused SAP credentials, and processed payments without execution of actual work. In several instances, contracts were issued in favour of selected vendors, including a firm linked to his spouse, and payments were fraudulently encashed, police sources said.The accused manipulated official records, including e-office documents to facilitate repeated payments against single works. “During investigation, forged contracts, purchase records, billing documents, and department enquiry reports have been seized, and statements of key witnesses have been recorded,” said IIC, Town police station, Srikanta Sahu.
