Keonjhar: The district and sessions judge, Keonjhar, G C Behera on Monday convicted 10 people in a 2019 murder case and sentenced them to life imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each of them, failing which they will undergo six months’ rigorous imprisonment.“After examining nine witnesses and the police investigation report, the court delivered the conviction and sentence. The court has also directed the District Legal Services Authority to provide compensation to the deceased’s children under the Victim Compensation Scheme,” the public prosecutor said.The convicts are Dhaneshwar Majhi (22), Balaram Majhi (45), Kadu Majhi (70), Mirza Majhi (45), Bhajahari Majhi (22), Mangat Majhi (25), Sukadev Majhi (22), Benju Majhi (21), Masang Majhi (25) and Shyamsunder Majhi (58). The deceased was identified as Kade Majhi (55) of Bhalugarh Sahi under Patna police station limits.
