Temperatures in Odisha to rise by 2-3°C: IMD

Bhubaneswar: The IMD forecast on Thursday said both day and night temperature would witness a gradual rise by two to three degrees Celsius in the state during next three days.Such forecast came amid slight fall in night temperature in some pockets of the state. Hill station G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district at 9.7 degrees Celsius recorded the day’s lowest in the state. Rourkela on the plains followed at 12.2 degrees Celsius.

The city witnessed dense fog that cut visibility to 50 metres with minimum temperature touching 21.4 degrees Celsius.There was also reports of thunderstorm activities at isolated places in some districts in past 24 hours. Barmul in Nayagarh district recorded highest 5.4 mm rainfall during the period, said the IMD rainfall report on Thursday morning.Manorama Mohanty, head of the regional IMD centre in the city, said the wind pattern would support gradual rise in minimum and maximum temperatures in the state this week.Mohanty said the minimum temperature at nine places also hovered at 15 degrees Celsius or below in morning hours during the day.Similarly, Parlakhemundi at 35 degrees Celsius recorded the day’s highest maximum temperature. Jharsuguda town followed at 34.4 degrees Celsius. The city recorded maximum 33.6 degrees Celsius.An IMD bulletin said minimum temperature saw appreciable fall by about 2-3°C at isolated places in the state during the day. So also night temperature rose by about 3°C at one or two places. The bulletin said minimum temperature was appreciably above normal by about 5°C at one or two places over the interior districts and above normal by about 2°C at some more places over the state.
