Bhubaneswar: Pravati Parida, deputy chief minister, on Monday disbursed more than Rs 61 crore to over 79,000 beneficiaries who were earlier left out of the state govt’s flagship ‘Subhadra’ scheme because of technical and verification-related issues. The financial assistance was transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts through direct benefit transfer (DBT) system during a virtual programme held here on Monday.Officials of the women and child development department said many beneficiaries failed to receive earlier instalments because of issues such as inactive NPCI linkage, biometric e-KYC errors and pending grievance resolutions.According to the official figures, 21,901 beneficiaries received the first instalment, while 22,347 beneficiaries were provided the second instalment. Besides, 79,601 beneficiaries received the third instalment under the scheme after completion of verification and clearance of pending cases at different administrative levels.Addressing the programme, Parida said the govt is committed to ensuring that no eligible beneficiary is deprived of the scheme’s benefits. She stressed that all genuine cases would be resolved through a strong verification and grievance redressal mechanism. “The govt is making all efforts to ensure inclusion of every eligible woman under the Subhadra scheme. Financial empowerment of women remains one of our top priorities,” she said. The deputy CM also reviewed the status of pending and left-out cases with the district administrations, particularly in Ganjam, Jajpur and Kalahandi districts. She directed the officials to expedite verification and ensure that eligible beneficiaries are included without delay.
