Keonjhar: A fire broke out at Anandpur College in Keonjhar on Wednesday, triggering panic on the campus.Though no casualty was reported, several equipment such as air conditioners and computers, besides students’ records, were destroyed before the fire at the Plus 3 Student Academic Management System (SAMS) centre near near the boys’ and girls’ common rooms was brought under control.According to preliminary reports, more than 10 computers, along with important documents and files, were destroyed in the fire, which is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit. College principal Narayan Mishra said the admission and scholarship registers, and Odisha State Open University examination papers were also partially damaged during firefighting. While the exact cause is yet to be confirmed, a short circuit is suspected,” he said.Fire personnel from Anandpur rushed to the spot after being alerted and managed to douse the flames swiftly.The college administration has initiated an internal inquiry into the incident.
