Keonjhar: A man and his three-year-old son died while his wife was critically injured in a road accident on NH-49 near Tentuli village under Sadar police station limits on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Nur Salim (35) and his son Md Sama. Nur’s wife, Akbari Begum (28), was rushed to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital in a critical condition.According to sources, the family was returning from a relative’s house on a motorcycle. The child was seated in front while Akbari was riding pillion. A short distance from their home, Nur reportedly lost control of the bike and rammed a stationary truck from behind. Eyewitnesses said the impact was so severe that Nur and his son died on the spot, while Akbari was thrown onto the road.
The accident occurred close to the Shuakati outpost. Locals and police reached the spot, rescued the injured woman and shifted all three to the district headquarters hospital. Police handed over the bodies to the family after postmortem. Locals said Nur, a dynamo mechanic working near Tentuli for many years, was well-known in the area, and the incident has left the locality in mourning. IIC, Sadar police station, Amit Kumar Bhuyan said it was a tragic accident. “Both vehicles have been seized,” he added.
