Time to take a look at Mirror, Rajputs… :- There is a famous shloka in Sanskrit, “यत्र नार्यस्तु पूज्यन्ते तत्र रमन्ते देवता”. The shloka means where Women are honored, divinity blossoms there, and where women are dishonored, all action no matter how noble remain unfruitful. Women are the foundation of the all-round development of a family, society, culture, and Nation. But, the controversy over Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Padmavat(i), is a tight slap on this diverse ideology of Nation.
States where Padmavat is banned, for the sake of “Law and Order” are Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Gujarat. A huge population of Rajput community resides here. It is one of the major Vote Bank for ruling parties of these states. Let me tell you an interesting fact. In the Sex ratio list of the census of 2011, out of 35 States and Union Territories of India, these states are not even in the rank of top 20. Over 1000 of males, Madhya Pradesh stands at 21, with 931 females. Rajasthan is at 23, with 928 females. Gujarat stands at 24 with 919 females and at last Haryana, which is at 30, with a worrisome rate of 879 females over 1000 males. This clearly implies that the condition of women in these states is a matter of serious consideration.
Now, let’s think with a cool mind, Rape cases happen every day in our country. The story of Padmavati happened 800 years ago. But, this issue is still getting more hype than the rape cases. Another interesting fact is, Madhya Pradesh secures 1st rank, in the category of highest registered rape cases in India. The facts, figures, polls, opinions, all these things just express one harsh reality. Despite giving a proper attention to the concept of Women Empowerment, we are slowly-slowly putting the whole idea in the bin of Endangered Species.
We are not here to criticize the whole Rajput community. Rajputs are the pride of this nation, just like any other caste. Their bravery and solidarity are what people swear upon. Rajput regiment has safeguarded our country from 1778 i.e. from last 240 years. Now also, we are expecting from the Rajputs to save the daughters and sisters from getting molested, harassed and raped. To work for the upliftment and betterment of Women, instead of fighting on the name of someone who died years ago. We all know that we can’t even imagine a world with Women. In upcoming years, let each and every woman of India, through her own efficiencies and achievements, say this proudly, “Hindustani Kangan mein utni hi takat hoti hai, jitni Hindustaani talwar mein”.
