It’s very difficult to believe that one of the dirtiest railway stations in India Madhubani, Bihar is now transformed into a new look. This complete new look is created using the Mithila paintings. This new creative and ethnic look has completely changed the dirty walls of the Madhubani station. The effort taken by the creative artists has now listed Madhubani to one of the cleanest stations in India.
The Mithila paintings have been prepared by 225 artists approximately within two months. These ethnic Mithila paintings are designed using nib-pens, twigs, matchstick, hand brushes and also by using fingers. In order to make these paintings creative and attractive, they are painted using natural dyes and various colored pigment to make geometrical patterns.
According to the reports, more than 80% of the women’s out of 225 artists have painted these beautiful Mithila paintings free of cost. All these members themselves took the initiative to help the Indian Railways in Rail Swachh Mission. They donated their entire time and skills in decorating the walls of Madhubani station.
The cleanest station in the country
Bindeshwar Pathak is the Brand ambassador of the Indian Railways Rail Swacch Mission and also the founder of Sulabh International. He tagged Madhubani and posted a tagline on his social media account on Saturday “the cleanest station in the country”. According to Divisional Railway Manager Samastipur R.K. Jain, the efforts taken by the local artist to decorate these paintings in just 2 months’ time span is highly appreciated all across the country.
The station walls of about 14,000 sq ft have been covered by these traditional and ethnic Mithila painting styles comprising of various themes.
Gannath Mishra, the senior railway official is supervising this entire project. He further reported that the experiment to paint the entire walls of Madhubani station has been set as a world record by these local artists.
By experimenting this project they have made the Madhubani station unique from all others stations. This uniqueness of the station is attracting all the passengers who are stepping into the railway station.
Each and every corner of the station including the waiting room is now covered with these colored and attractive Mithila paintings. The station which was once one of the dirtiest stations in the country is now listed as one of the cleanest and beautiful stations of the country.
