It seems that the UN members have realized the plights of innocent Syrian people. Due to this, the suffering may get to an end soon.

The UN secretary-general insisted Security Council members to “end the suffering” of residents in Eastern Ghouta.

As the US threatened to “act if we must” as a truce continues to be ignored by Syrian and Russian forces.

Also, Antonio Guterres’ statement came as government forces continued for a third week to takeoff air strikes and advance a ground offensive into the Damascus suburb. It has been under rebel control since mid-2013.

Attempts turn to be useless….

Several attempts to stop the deadly operation have proved to be useless. Over the last week, there were around 1,022 civilians who have been killed in Russian-backed Syrian government attacks as per war monitor.

Guterres said in his address at the UN headquarters in New York. “I am deeply disappointed by all those … who allowed this to happen,”

“There should be only one agenda for all of us: to end the suffering of the Syrian people and find a political solution to the conflict.

He told, referencing UNSC resolution 2401, Mainly in Eastern Ghouta. Here  the air strikes, shelling, ground offensive intensified after the adoption of the resolution,”

Resolution 2401 titled for an immediate ceasefire. Also includes evacuation of civilians and the delivery of aid supplies.

It is not the path we prefer, but it is a path we have said we will take…..

United States ambassador Nikki Hailey criticized the UN for the failure to implement the resolution. She said her country was drafting a new one with “no room for evasion”.

Haley told the 15-member Security Council. “It is not the path we prefer, but it is a path we have demonstrated we will take, and we are prepared to take again.”

Also, Haley said, “When the international community consistently fails to act.

There are times when states are compelled to take their own action.”
