Indian Railway has come up with some new facilities and plans in order to serve the passengers in the best possible way. Northern Indian Railway is now planning to start 122 new trains (61 pairs) in partnership with other regions railways. These trains will complete around 2141 rounds around different routes.
The Indian Railway started these new trains keeping in mind the problems faced by people during their journey. Due to lack of ticket availability and reservations many people are not able to travel easily. Looking at all the difficulties faced by passenger, the Indian Railway took the decision of starting many new trains.
Facilities provided by Indian Railway
With the beginning of summer season many people might be going for summer vacations. With the increase in the number of passengers some additional coaches are added in the trains. These new trains will include both AC and normal coaches as per the requirement of passengers.
These trains will be running on many different routes. Indian Railway has started trains for Vaishno Devi, Patna, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Jaipur, Haridwar, Jammu, Lucknow, Mumbai and Indore.
You can also check the availability of the seats in these trains on the enquiry number 139 of Indian Railway. One can even contact the nearest Railway station to check the information regarding the train stoppage station and the time interval also.
Also, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) of Indian Railway have taken a big step towards the overcharging of food items in theses trains. Indian Railway has provided the facility of point of sale system (POS) machines in these trains.
All the payments done by this machine will be recorded by Indian Railway in order to check the amount charged by the passengers. With this step none of the vendor will be able to take extra money from you. There is no need for the individual to carry money along with them.
Trains in which POS facility is introduced are:
- Aravali Express
- Telangana Express
- Sealdah Ajmer Express
Indian Railway will shortly introduced POS machines in all the trains in order to receive all the payments digitally thereby make India a Digital India. This will also help in minimizing the overcharging of money by the vendors.
These facilities is starting on the pilot base of the train number 12627-28 which is Karnataka Express which runs between Bangalore City and New Delhi. According to Indian Railway a total number of 100 POS machines will be provided in 26 trains running on different routes.
The decision of POS is taken keeping in mind the complaints of passengers over extra charging by vendors. The machine will keep the record of each and every payment done by passengers in order to get rid of overcharging issue.
Other facilities introduced by Railway
The passengers can now book the retiring room on hourly basis as per their requirement. There is no need for them to book it for 12 or 24-hour slots. With this facility, passengers can book room for the minimum three hours and maximum 48 hours. This service is starting at the stations of Mumbai, Ahmadabad, Surat, and Vadodara and is in process for other stations. This will in turn help Indian Railway to increase its revenues.
According to Indian Railway a super Train Superintendent (TS) will be provided in every train. Train Superintendent (TS) will take the responsibility of all the on-board services, operations and complaints of passengers in the trains.
The contact details of TS will be provided in each coach. This facility is starting in a pilot phase of all the Rajdhani trains which are originating from Delhi.
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation in participation with Women and Child Development Ministry have launched a facility. It includes different Self Help Groups (SHGs) to provide cold water to the passengers at fewer rates using the vending machines. They are installing a total of 500 machines at many big stations.
