The White House prepares to hold a conference. The conference aimed at resolving the Gaza Strip’s humanitarian crisis. As per the Palestinians, the summit is an attempt at removing the Palestinian cause and turning it into “an aid project”.
So the representatives refused the White House’s invitation to attend.
The representatives from some 20 countries are among the attendees. This includes Israel and several Arab countries also. They will discuss Gaza’s health challenges. Also its chronic contaminated water, electricity problem, poverty, and food security.
The US was expected to reveal several proposals. The proposals tackle some of the issues faced by Gaza’s residents.
US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and Middle East envoy Jason Greenblatt also speak in submit. They are key supporters of Israeli rightist policies against Palestinians.
The US is a’Dishonest’ broker
The US is now seeming as a “dishonest” broker. This is according to many Palestinians. Residents believe that the conference is being held to “protect Israel” from another war with Gaza.
Aboul Enein said refusing the White House’s invitation is right.Hamas and Fatah are the two main Palestinian political parties. They signed a reconciliation agreement in October 2017. This is for ending division that saw two parallel governments operating in Gaza and the West Bank, respectively.
On October 13, agreement to form a unity government was signed.
United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees has been the lifeline…..
In January, Trump announced the US government would be cutting more than half of its planned funding. It is for the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees. This is a move that could prove disastrous for millions of people in need.
Wrapping $65m out of a $125m aid package earmarked (UNRWA). This could obstruct the agency’s operations to a large extent.
For nearly 70 years, UNRWA has been the lifeline to the more than five million registered Palestinian refugees. But for Gaza’s residents, UNRWA’s support is constant.
Al-Ghoul also placed blame on both Fatah and Hamas for the deteriorating conditions in Gaza.
She said “Fatah did nothing to stop the blockade. Instead, its agreement extended the siege. Also, Hamas failed at several attempts to reveal and find a political solution to end the siege on Gaza.
“We have no expectations”
But others claimed that the conference is a just a front. However, the conference does not think best for Gaza people in real.
